The Buffalo Bills have agreed to a reworked contract with All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer that will include up to $2 million in incentives, his agents said.
Jordan appreciates the gesture by the Bills as they continue to work on a contract extension, according to the agent.
As he entered the final year of a two-year, $19.5 million deal that he signed with the Bills in March 2020 that included $500,000 in incentives, Poyer decided to sign a new contract with agent DrewRosenhaus.
The new incentives cover a variety of categories, which are well within reach based on Poyer's role and the expectations for the team this year.
In the Bills' season opener, Poyer, who was coming off an elbow injury, had an intercept, two tackles and a pass defensed.
He had expressed his desire for a new contract and his love for Buffalo. At the start of the training camp, Rosenhaus met with Brandon Beane.
Poyer said he wants to play football in Buffalo for as long as he can. I'm here with the guys and I'm ready to attack this season.
The former seventh-round pick out of Oregon State by the Philadelphia Eagles has been with the Bills for the past five seasons.
Poyer participated in the team's mandatory minicamp before the summer break, but did not attend the team's voluntary offseason programs. The safety didn't practice until August 27 after he injured his elbow.
Hyde said that he was very special. Without him, I wouldn't be the player I am today. He wouldn't be the player he is without me. We push each other every day.
Poyer has 19 intercepts in Buffalo. He had a career-high three sacks last year.
