Heading into the final fight of his UFC contract on Saturday, an enormous amount of support has been given to him by both his old rival and his new one.

He used his personal social media to wish him good luck on his Saturday fight. The rivalry between the two was split at one point in the year. There has been talk of a third fight for a long time.

"Thanks for making it to the end of his contractual obligations with the UFC, and as a'superstar goer'," said the Irishman. It's an amazing feat. It was a fair game. We will have a trilogy.

A third fight between the two is expected. It's for sure going to happen at some point, but the timing isn't right at the moment.

The main event of UFC 279 will see former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson face off against former lightweight champion and current UFC president, Dana White. He was supposed to face Chimaev in Las Vegas but he didn't make the weight.

The UFC tried to sign him to a new deal, but he decided to test the market and fight out his contract. Since 2007, the MMA fighter has only fought in the UFC.

The rivalry between the two men began in late 2015, when the other accused the other of taking everything he's worked for. The Irish star was upset by a second-round submission by the American in March of last year. In a five-round fight five months after the loss, the Irishman defeated the American by majority decision.

He hasn't fought in over a year. He broke his leg during a fight withDustin Poirier. He has two fights left on his UFC contract.
