William was given the title of prince of Wales by his father. Catherine will become the Princess of Wales, making her the first person since Diana to hold that title. King Charles expressed his love for his son and daughter-in-law as they continued to build their lives overseas.

The beginning of the transition from Elizabeth to Charles is marked by the king's speech. The new king held an audience with the new prime minister, who took office earlier this week.

Dozens of villages and towns in the northeast of the country have been under Russian control for six months.

There are three. More abortion restrictions were approved by the South Carolina Senate.

The bill that would have banned abortion without exception for rape or incest was changed by the chamber to add more restrictions on abortion. The law was temporarily stopped by the Supreme Court. Rape and incest victims can get an abortion before the 20th week of the month. The time is cut in half by the Senate proposal.

Republicans argued over whether there should be exceptions for victims of rape and incest. The Republican Party is caught between appealing to abortion moderates and pushing the hard-line position that a fetus deserves the same rights as a person.

There are four. The governor of New York declared a state of emergency due to the outbreak of the disease.

Emergency service workers are allowed to give vaccinations. It requires health care providers to give New York health officials information about their vaccine programs.

According to officials, 57 wastewater samples from several counties were found to contain the disease. 50 of the samples were linked to the case of an unvaccinated Rockland man, who became the first US case of the disease in nearly a decade. Seven of the samples have not been linked to the Rockland case.

Los Angeles County is conducting an autopsy on a person who died of monkeypox to see if it was a factor in their death.

Budget travelers and the crowd-averse have long embraced traveling in the fall, when airfare and lodging rates tend to go down. Flexible work, climate change and high-season hassles have pushed more travelers into the season, which has narrowed the window for travel bargains before the winter holidays.

There are seven. Water levels in Spain have exposed a monument.

The Dolmen of Guadalperal, also known as the Spanish Stonehenge, came back from the water during the recent dry spell. The single-chambered tombs were often used for religious ceremonies. The Bronze Age landmark is 2000 years older than the Celtic landmark in England.

The exposed monument is being threatened by tourists as well as by changes in the environment, and a cultural group is petitioning the government to relocate it to dry land.

There are eight. How do you show your love for Japan? There is a telegram.

In Japan, the written messages, a form of communication associated more with the 1920s than the 2020s, are still being used. They're usually sent for weddings and funerals. They are either sent to each other or to the person.

Telegrams are mostly composed online, sent digitally, printed on card stock and hand delivered today. The medium is the message for many Japanese of a certain age.

There are shows like "Some Like It Hot" and "Ain't No Mo'" in the new Broadway season. An actor in the Tony-winning musical wears a pink dress to play the mother of the lead character.

Cross-dressing can be found in the works of Shakespeare. Today's new productions prompt debate over whether the trope is sexist, transphobic, dated or delightful. The issue was discussed with artists in the field who spoke about how it worked.

The corgis became close to the royal family because of Queen Elizabeth's love for them. She had a corgi-dachshund mix and a cocker spaniel when she died. The queen had more than 30 dogs over the course of seven decades.

Candy, Lissy, Muick and Sandy will no longer be cared for. Buckingham Palace didn't reply to the question, but it seems likely they need a new home.
