According to The New York Times, two top former Trump advisors were subpoenaed this week as part of the Justice Department's expansive investigation into the events surrounding the January 6 Capitol Riot.
More than a dozen people in the former president's circle, including Stephen Miller and Brian Jack, were subpoenaed by a federal grand jury this week, The Times reported.
Miller and Jack did not reply.
According to The Times, the subpoenas seek information on Save America, which was formed after the 2020 election, and the alleged plot to overturn the 2020 vote by sending a slate of fake electors to certain states.
The Times reported on Thursday that the DOJ is looking into the political action committee based on about a half dozen subpoenas to lower-level former Trump aides. The subpoenas for Miller and Jack are related to the 2020 electors scheme, but it's not clear why they're being investigated.
The Capitol breach, obstruction of the investigation, and the fake electors plot are all being investigated by the DOJ.
Miller was subpoenaed for his phone records in January. The advisor is trying to block the subpoena. He was deposed by the panel.
Jack was subpoenaed by the committee a year ago.
At least 40 members of Trump's circle have cooperated with investigators.
