A dispute between two brothers resulted in a triple murder and suicide in a North Dakota wheat field. According to Towner County Sheriff Andrew Hillier, Robert Bracken killed his brother, son and a third man before taking his own life. The dead were the brother and son of Richard Bracken. In his field south of Cando, the Brackens had been harvesting. An investigation found that a dispute had been going on for a week or more before the shooting. According to Hillier, the autopsy results showed that Robert Bracken had shot himself in the head. The other three died of gunshot wounds. Cando is located west of Grand Forks and south of the Canadian border.
