George Kittle's status for the San Francisco 49ers' season opener against the Chicago Bears is uncertain as he continues to deal with a groin injury. He gave a good update on Friday.
Kittle told reporters that he will do everything he can to play in Week 1.
The Pro Football Network reported Thursday that Kittle was unlikely to play against the Bears due to his groin injury.
One of the top tight ends in the game and known for his toughness, Kittle wouldn't shock anyone if he chose to play through the injury. His chances of playing nearly the entire season are more likely if he sits out the season opener and doesn't get any worse.
Kittle was hurt during Monday's practice and hasn't been seen since. Kyle Shanahan told reporters that they would take their time.
Kittle missed three games last season with a calf injury, and the 49ers were cautious with him throughout training camp. He took a number of days off in order to stay healthy.
The 28-year-old is coming off a good season in which he caught 71 passes for 905 yards and 6 touchdown in 14 games. He is expected to be one of the top targets in the years to come.
