Chimaev missed the weight by seven-and-a-half pounds and will now face off against Tony Ferguson in the main event.

The main card has been changed. Ferguson was supposed to fight Li Jingliang on the main card, but the fight has been changed to Daniel Rodriguez. Holland was supposed to face Rodriguez.

Dana White made the announcement on SportsCenter's social media accounts.

The fight between Chimaev and Diaz was supposed to headline UFC279 at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena. Chimaev dropped in weight from 178.6 to 178.7.

There are bouts with Ion Cuelaba and Johnny Walker on the main card.

There is only one fight left on his UFC contract, and it will be his last. He has a career record of 20-13. He has won over Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis.

The eight-time Fight of the Night winner's last match took place in June of 2021.

Ferguson was the UFC interim lightweight champ. He has gone 25-7 in his career and has won 18 of 19 matches.

Ferguson has lost four of his last five matches, with his most recent fight ending in a second-round knockout.
