The National Telecommunications Agency is said to have seen pictures of the device in documents, and it is believed that the device will be announced at the hardware event. The device looks similar to the white model of the current Chromecast, but leaks from earlier this week suggest that it will only be able to stream in 4K and that it will be 40 percent cheaper than the current model.
The device has a label that says, "Model G454V." A device that connected directly to a TV, was controlled by a remote, and could use both wi-fi and bluetooth was described in an FCC filing. It described a device.
We don't know what the internals of the device will look like, but we do know that it will be more powerful than the current Chromecast. The company recently admitted that its current streaming puck hasn't been particularly fast or responsive and that managing its limited storage space can be a pain. If it released a new device with those same issues, it would be a shame.
When it was announced that it was holding a hardware event next month, it said it would show off the new products. It seems likely that we will see a new Chromecast when it is photographed and approved by regulators.
