The future of the Call of Duty franchise will be revealed in a showcase by the company. The Call of Duty Next showcase will take place on September 15th and will be broadcasted on a number of platforms.

The showcase will focus on the sequel to Modern Warfare as well as Warzone 2.0 and the new Warzone mobile experience.

Call of Duty has not been performing as well as it could have. Call of Duty: Vanguard did not meet its Q4 expectations, as revealed by the proposal for a $68.7 billion acquisition by microsoft. Call of Duty's yearly release schedule has been disrupted for the first time since 2005 due to the delayed game.

Call of Duty is at the center of the dispute between the two consoles. Sony is worried that Call of Duty, a multi platform game, could become an exclusive for the XBOX once the deal is done. Microsoft wants to keep Call of Duty on the PS3 for several more years, according to a statement from Microsoft's gaming CEO. In an interview with Game Industry.biz, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan said the deal was "inadequate on every level."

It's not clear if Call of Duty's existence as a multi platform game will be talked about at Call of Duty Next. Find out on September 15th.
