Outside of Buckingham Palace, King Charles III welcomed mourners.
One woman gave the King a kiss while another gave him flowers as many people in the crowd wanted to shake hands or take photos.
His mother, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away on Thursday at the age of 96.
King Charles III greeted mourners outside of Buckingham Palace as he returned to London after the death of his mother.
The Queen passed away Thursday at her residence.
The new King was greeted by a large group of mourners outside of Buckingham Palace.
Cheers erupted from the crowd as his car pulled up to the palace, and some chanted "God Save the King" as Charles and Queen consort got out of their car.
Charles shook hands with mourners and spoke to them in the public.

While most people merely shook hands with or took photos of the King, one woman leaned down and kissed him on the hand.
A woman gave Charles flowers. A man tried to give Charles a microphone, but his security team wouldn't let him.
Charles talked to some people in the crowd.
The king did not have his wife by his side. She joined him again when he got to the gates of the Palace, where they took in the hundreds of flowers that were left at the gates.
They walked into Buckingham Palace.
