Thanks to more advanced displays, Apple's latest high-end models, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, are able to get brighter when used outside.
Apple says the most advanced displays in any phone are found in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The new displays have a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, which is two times the previous models' peak brightness.
The new displays can reach a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, higher than older phones. The high-end $4,999 Pro Display XDR delivers the same level of brightness as the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Apple is able to deliver these higher brightnesses thanks to a more advanced OLED panel and a new Display Engine in the A16 Bionic chip that features Dynamic Island, always on, and the 120Hz variable refresh rate.
Smaller changes are made to the displays of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The resolution of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is 2,796 by 1,289 compared to the resolution of the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The resolution of the iPhone 14 Pro is 2,556 by 1,179 higher than the resolution of the iPhone 13 Pro.
Customers will be able to pre-order the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max on Friday, September 16th. The iPhone 14 Plus will be available for purchase on October 7.
