Due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II in Scotland on Thursday, the unification junior lightweight title bout between Mikaela Mayer and Alycia Baumgardner has been put on hold.

The bouts will take place at the O2 Arena in London.

The decision was made after consultation with British government officials and the country's regulations during a period of mourning for the monarch.

The public and the media were kept out of the weigh-in on Friday because of the change of plans for the O2 Arena card.

Ben Shalom said in a statement that Queen Elizabeth II was an "immense leader for our nation and an inspiration for women all over the world" She showed that there were no limits to what women could achieve.

The main fighters on the card took to social media to express their sadness over the passing of the Queen.

My condolences to the people of the UK...rest in peace, Queen Elizabeth.❤️

I offer my sincerest condolences to the people of the UK for the loss of its longest serving Monarch, Queen Elizabeth. She meant so much to so many and served as a source of stability for her nation.🤍

Marshall posted a photo of the Queen on her social media accounts.

The Shields-Marshall card has been considered to be one of the biggest cards in the history of women's boxing.

Shields and Marshall were scheduled to fight for the first time since Marshall handed Shields the only boxing loss of her career in the amateur ranks. The fight was decided on earlier this summer after multiple dates were considered over the course of a year.

The two boxers are fighting for the same titles. Baumgardner won the title in England. In 2020 and 2021, he won two belts. The two had a tense relationship on social media and had to be separated at a face-off earlier this week.
