Employment in Canada fell for a third month in a row in August, adding to concerns about slower growth in the second half of the year as the Bank of Canada tries to deliver a soft landing.
The country lost 40,000 jobs last month and the unemployment rate went up, according to Statistics Canada.

Economists had expected the labour market to add 15,000 jobs and the unemployment rate to go up from July's five per cent.
The agency said declines in the education and construction sectors more than offset gains in other industries. The losses over the past three months are the first instance of declines unrelated to restrictions.
Average hourly wages increased in August last year compared to the previous two months.
