During the Warriors' April 7 game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Chris Mullin andMitchRichmond made an important announcement to the crowd.

Mullin said that they got great news last weekend. Tim Hardaway is a member of the class of 2022.

As he received a standing applause, Hardaway stood and waved.

It has been a long time since Hardaway was voted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. When the Hall called the week before, he almost didn't answer his phone. He didn't want to hear the apology, "I'm sorry, you didn't get enough votes," again.

He received better news. The core of the Warriors' famous Run TMC era would be in the Hall of Fame.

When it goes through my mind, Hardaway gets emotional. We are a group of people. We've always been close to one another. This is something we care about. It's hard to describe how I feel for the three of us being in the Hall.

It isn't one of the best trios in NBA history, but it believes it has the potential to be. It could have built on its second-round playoff exit at the end of the 1990-91 season if it had the chance.

Mullin, Richmond and Hardaway know that the two seasons created a legacy that is still a fan favorite today.

Mullin said they only played two seasons. As we look back, it's sad. We made the most of the time we had. It was the most enjoyable time I have ever been a part of. There was a lot of promise for us.

When we get together, we always ponder what if.

Mullin was drafted by the Warriors after they finished with the worst record in the league.

Don Nelson came to the Warriors two years prior as the team's vice president and became the general manager and head coach.

The Warriors drafted Hardaway in 1989.

Mullin said that Tim turned the franchise into a high energy offensive powerhouse.

Nelson's "Nellie Ball" offense was brought to life by Mullin, Hardaway andRichmond, which made them one of the NBA's most popular trios. Fans were asked to come up with a nickname for the trio.

"The Ultimate Warriors," "Three-mendius," and "The Dunk-and-Go-nuts" were some of the entries. None of them were correct. Run TMC was the cause of the problem.

Run DMC rose to fame in the '80s thanks to the nickname. The initials of the players' first names are what inspired the nickname. Nelson implemented a quick pace in Milwaukee before he arrived at Golden State.

"You have to have great minds to innovate what you want to do with a team and make it fun and make it where other teams can'tguard them," Hardaway said. A lot of people didn't know you can play five guys and they can be 5-5. People couldn't keep up with us, we were doing that.

The Warriors led the league in scoring average and pace of play in the 1989-90 season despite missing the playoffs.

In the first regular-season game of the following season, the Warriors beat the Denver Nuggets by a score of 161-158. They averaged more points than any other team in the NBA that year.

Golden State made it to the second round of the playoffs but lost to the Lakers, who went on to win the NBA title.

One game into the 1991-92 season, the Warriors came to a screeching halt. Billy Owens was traded to the Kings minutes after the team's victory over the Nuggets.

Nelson's system seemed to be a good fit for Owens, who was the third pick in the 1991 draft. Nelson was under pressure to improve his frame and it was his responsibility to do so.

Mullin and Hardaway thought thatRichmond was joking when he said he wouldn't be joining them on the bus. However, he was not. While the team flew back to Oakland, the team's destination was not immediately known.

"That hurts me to this day," he added. It was my first time going through a team that didn't want me and it was a lot. It was in my game. I was angry whenever I went to the court.

After he left Golden State, he became even quieter. After Nelson decided to trade him, it took him a long time to get over his dislike for him.

The Hardaway-Mullin-Owens trio never lived up to their potential. In the next three years, Golden State made the playoffs twice, but lost in the first round both times, including the 1993-94 season, when Hardaway tore his knee.

In 1996, Hardaway was traded to the Miami Heat. Mullin was in free agency for more than a year. There was a time when the Run TMC era was in Oakland.

Because of the trade, the center of the "what if" conversations is usuallyRichmond. Even though all three players went on to have team success elsewhere, they never got a chance to win a championship together, something that the Warriors have done four times now.

They see similarities between themselves and Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, who are almost certain to enter the Hall of Fame when their careers are over. The Warriors play an up-tempo style reminiscent of the Run TMC era, but what really links these two eras is the way each member of the trio meshes with one another.
