Detroit was embarrassed 44-6 at home by the Eagles in last season's Week 8 game, which is something the team wants to avoid. The quarterback said the Lions owe them one. DJ Chark was added to the offense, but is this a different team? Detroit's first real test will take place on Sunday. Lions coach Dan Campbell said there was no more waiting outside for the gates to open. "Now there's nowhere to run because we're going in." said Eric Woodyard.
The Eagles running back will score a couple of touchdown. His stat line from last season was 137 rushes, 754 yards and 0 touchdown. He's due because he's running behind one of the best offensive lines in the league and against a Lions defense that allowed 135 yards per game. He missed time this summer because of a injury, but practiced this week.
It was the best completion percentage by an Eagles quarterback with at least 15 attempts in an opener for last year's opener.

It's 1p.m. CBS has a spread of CAR -2.
There is a battle between two rookies, one is a left tackle and the other is a defensive player. To have a chance against his former team, Ekwonu must hold his own against the league's third ranked player in sacks.
The bold prediction is that he will turn the ball over twice in the first quarter, but then throw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to give the Carolinas a chance for a comeback. It might take a little time for the new starter to get used to his surroundings.
If Baker Mayfield can save his fantasy football value, that's a good thing.
It's a fact that the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Indians will be Jacoby Brissett. He is looking to win three straight starts for the second time in his career in 2019. He lost his only other season- opening start while with the Colts.
The injuries are for the Carolinas.

The matchup must-reads: the Browns claim Mond off waivers to be third quarterback. Ahead of the first game of the season, there was no built-in animosity.
It's 1p.m. WSH - 2.5 is the spread for Fox.
The first and second picks in the 2020 and 2016 drafts will be featured in the quarterback match up. There are questions about both of them We just saw the trade for a second year in a row. Do you think a new coach for Lawrence in Doug Pederson or a new start for Wentz in Washington is more important?
He will redeem himself from his Week 18 debacle against the Jags with 300 passing yards and two touchdown throws. When Wentz was playing for the Colts, the Jaguars sacked him six times and stole the ball from him one time. Even though the Jags' pass rush is expected to be much better this year, the Commanders' offensive line is pretty good and will keep those guys out of the way.
The Jags had 29 turnovers last season, which was the second most in the league. They never scored more than 26 points in a game and were down by 204 points.
The Commanders have injuries.
Commanders running back Antonio Gibson quietly ranked eighth in opportunities per game last season (rushes and targets) and finds himself in a match up against a Jags defense that allowed a touchdown on 4.1% ofRB carries a season ago. You can see the Week 1 rankings.

This is a second chance game. It's the second time around for Saints coach Dennis Allen, who was 8-28 from 2012 to '14 with the Raiders and began his career as a defensive assistant in Atlanta. It's the second time as a starter for Marcus Mariota, who was the second pick in the 2015 draft and spent four-plus seasons as the starter in Tennessee. He will face Jameis Winston, who was the No. 1 pick of the 2015 draft.

A bold prediction is that wide receiver Michael Thomas will catch at least four passes the day after he injured his ankle. Thomas' status has been up in the air as he recovers from both his ankle injury and a recent hamstring injury, but if his recent comments are any indication, he's ready to again be one of the game's best receiver. There's going to be rust, but watch for Winston to target Thomas early and often.
Jordan has 23 career sacks against the Falcons, second most in the history of the game behind Kevin Greene's 28.6. The most sacks by any active player against a single team are by Jordan.

The offensive line will get a big test in the season opener. Last season's Defensive Player of the Year, T.J. Watt, is a member of Pittsburgh's defense. Cincinnati surrendered 55 sacks in the 2021 regular season, which ranked 30th in the NFL, and is looking for a massive improvement.
The turnover battle is going to be won by the Steelers. Taking care of the football and taking away the football is what the Steelers need to have a chance against the defendingAFC champ. During camp, the secondary has been active in intercepting their own quarterbacks, which will lead to a big opening weekend against the Bengal's.

Nick Bosa will get three sacks. Bosa had two sacks in a Week 8 win against the Bears last year, and though Chicago worked to bolster its offensive line in the off-season, there aren't proven tackles to slow Bosa. The Bears will throw multiple blockers Bosa's way, but his freedom to flip sides on any given play will allow him to get his second career hat trick.
For the most by any wide receiver since 1950, San Francisco receiver Deebo Samuel has 11 career rushingTDs. In 2021, he lined up as a running back on 58 plays, the most of any receiver.

The Bears have injuries.
There is something to know for fantasy. The team from the state of Texas. There is a team called the Bears. The 49ers allowed more yards per deep pass attempt than any other team. Lance needs to be the guy for the 49ers. The Bears are getting healthy at the right time. The 49ers' offensive line and secondary issues could affect their Super Bowl hopes. Some people think Fields will bounce back after his struggles.
It's 1p.m. CBS has a spread of BAL -7.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson faces the man he succeeded in last year, Joe Flacco, who is now the Jets' temporary quarterback. You have to believe that Jackson's playmaking ability will eventually cause problems for the Jets because he could be rusty after not playing in the preseason. His past 16 starts have seen him lose 14 of them. The former Super Bowl winner has beaten every team.
Mark Andrews will set a career high with 150 receiving yards. Jackson is going to rely on his favorite target even more with J.K. Dobbins out for the season with a knee injury. The Jets gave up more receiving yards to tight ends than any other team.
In his only other start against the Jets, Jackson threw five touchdown passes, tying for most in a game in his career and tying for the most in a game in Ravens history.
The injuries are Ravens and Jets.
The Jets' defense was bottom five in both yards allowed per pass attempt and yards allowed per completion last season, making this a golden opportunity for Ravens receiver Rashod Bateman to pay off the hype that came after Brown was traded to Arizona. You can see the Week 1 rankings.

Jackson has a Friday deadline to suspend talks. It's a big deal for Jets' Saleh, according to honeymooners.
It's 1p.m. CBS has a spread of - 7.5.
The Colts haven't won a season- opening game in four years, but they dominated the Texans in two meetings last year. The game will be decided by who can control the trenches, as both teams want to run the ball. The Colts have Jonathan Taylor, who led the league in rushing yards and rushing touchdown in 2021, while the Texans have Dameon Pierce, who was drafted in the fourth round. Taylor had at least 140 rushing yards and a pair of touchdown in two games against Houston.

Based on the Colts' stated intentions to get him an increased number of touches this season, the bold prediction is that Nyheim Hines will be the Colts' leading receiver. During training camp, he played the role of a traditional slot receiver and will be heavily involved as a pass catcher.

Arizona's Kyler Murray and Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes will have good battles on Sunday. The Cards' group is thin on depth and experience, while the Chiefs' group is young. Since the metric's debut in 2006, September has been the best month for Total QBR for any player. The ball will be thrown.
There will be 100 yards worth of passes. Without Tyreek Hill, Mahomes has excelled in four career games, throwing eight touchdown with no turnovers and a QBR of 88.6. Smith-Schuster is one of the top candidates for a big game after he had a good training camp.

Packers quarterback Rodgers has been unstoppable against the Vikings. His touchdown-to-interception ratio against them is the best for a qualified quarterback in the history of the league. He has lost his past two games against the Vikings and is 15-10-0 against them. KirkCousins will be the first quarterback in history to defeat Rodgers in three consecutive games if the Vikings win Sunday.
One of Rodgers' most remarkable streaks is going to be ended by the Vikings. Since the beginning of the 2020 season, Rodgers has thrown 38 touchdown passes against the North. That's the longest streak of passes without an pick in a divisional game in the history of the league. Timing could be an issue early on because he's breaking in a new group of receiver. Don't be surprised if Za'Darius Smith causes a turnover with a quarterback pressure or a tipped pass.

Tom Brady will be the first quarterback to start a game at 45 years old, and he did so after leading the league in passing yards and touchdown passes. He has never been defeated by the Cowboys. Joe Montana is the only other quarterback with at least five starts to be perfect against the Cowboys. The Cowboys have won six in a row at home.
Brady will throw two touchdown passes, the Bucs will add two more on the ground, and Brady will get his first road win in three years. The fourth-best quarterback record in the Super Bowl era for players with a minimum of five starts is that of Brady. Several people within the organization believe that he is ready for another great season even though he was out for 11 days.
The Cowboys played more man coverage than any other team in the league. Seven of Dallas' top nine defensive backs are back. In last season's Week 1 meeting, it allowed Brady to throw four touchdown passes against its man coverage but did not allow him to throw more than two against it.
