People in Russia will still be able to buy the new iPhone 14 through parallel imports despite Apple pulling out of the Russian market.
Why wouldn't you? Do consumers want to purchase these phones? Denis Manturov, the trade and industry minister, said on September 8 that there will be a chance. Manturov was asked if the new iPhone would be imported into Russia.
Russia legalized parallel imports in May after companies stopped doing business in the country. Retailers can ship products into the country without the trademark owner's approval. Manturov said that the gray market sales reached over $6 billion by August.
Apple stopped selling its products in Russia in March, but some retailers are still selling them down. Through the parallel imports program, some have been able to get their hands on newer models.
Russia's largest mobile network started taking pre-orders for the new phone on Thursday. The starting price is 84,990 rubles. It could take up to 120 days for the device to be delivered.
On September 7th, Apple announced the new phone. The phone comes with a two-year subscription to a satellite service that allows users to make emergency calls even if they don't have internet or cell service. A force sensor that can detect if the user has been in a car crash is one of the new features. Pre orders will be available as of September 16.
Insider sent a comment to Apple that was not immediately responded to.
