All of the expectations in the world were on the Buffalo Bills as they prepared to play the Los Angeles Rams in the season opener. When the spotlight was on, the Bills made a statement and came away with a 31-10 win despite first-half mistakes.

In the second half, the Bills scored on three straight possessions, forcing two punts and intercepting Matthew Stafford twice, as they went on to win the game.

The Bills' regular-season record was previously set by TrentEdwards. Allen carried the ball nine times for 57 yards and a touchdown.

The Bills' offense was 9-for-10 on third down, tying for second best in the past 30 seasons. Buffalo didn't punt once.

The most Stafford has been sacked as a Ram is by the defense. In Von Miller's first game as a Bill, he got two sacks. Miller had three tackles for loss.

The Bills were successful in generating pressure. The Bills only had one attack on 49 dropbacks. Last year, Stafford was 0-3 when opponents played less than 10% of the game.

The Rams were able to stay in the game early thanks to a touchdown pass from Stafford to Cooper Kupp in the second quarter, but they couldn't get the offense going in the second half. The Bills' outdistanced the Rams in total yards.

Since 2004, L.A. has become the third defending Super Bowl champion to lose on a Thursday.

The Bills will not play again until Week 2, when they will host the TennesseeTitans.
