The late Queen Elizabeth II has appeared on the big screen more times than any other person.

The Queen was Britain's longest serving monarch and the second longest reigning monarch in the world. The Royal Family announced the death of the Queen.

The Queen is a cultural icon because of her 70 years of rule. Queen Elizabeth II has appeared in over 20 feature films, from Oscar winning drama to slapstick comedies.

We've put together a list of the Queen's various film portrayals.

Aces Go Places 3, Huguette Funfrock, 1984

Funfrock's final outing as the Queen was in Hong Kong comedy (and yet another Bond spoof) and it involved a larger-than-life plot about gem thieves and lots of strange set-pieces and high speed chases.

Until this point, there have been some fairly slapstick versions of the Queen. The film is about Hitler trying to marry into the Windsors and features Christian Slater as an action hero. Princess Elizabeth was still a few years away from becoming Queen when it was filmed.

Royal Faceoff, Lesley Staples, 2006

Another crazy Queen portrayal. This one involves an American high-schooler getting mixed up with the Royal Family and trying to remove the Queen's face from the currency. There is a dancing version of Queen Elizabeth II.

Rabbit Over the Void, Elena Safonova, 2006

Rabbit Over The Void is a 2006 comedy about a man trying to convince a Baron that he's worth marrying his daughter. Near the end of the film, Queen Elizabeth II rides up on a horse for a brief appearance.

The Queen, a 2006 movie starring Dame Helen Mirren, is the only one of its kind. This is arguably one of the most successful films that the Queen has been fictionalized in, as it received a largely positive response from critics and earned Helen Mirren an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Minions, Jennifer Saunders, 2015

One of the most memorable film appearances by the Queen has to be her fight with aMinion that is trying to steal her crown. The way her elbow drops the goggly thief is something we really like.

The BFG, Penelope Wilton, 2016

Disney's live action remake of The BFG is complete with another appearance from the Queen. There is a version of the monarch that is more sarcastic.

Following on from the popularity of The Crown's fourth season, which followed Lady Diana Spencer's relationship with Prince Charles in the 1980s, Spencer focuses on a Christmas with the royal family in 1991. Although Lady Diana is the focus, Queen Elizabeth II has a big part to play as well.

It's worth mentioning that there were a couple of other references to other films that are harder to find. One of these was a 1999 TV movie called The Pooch and the Pauper, while the other was a spoof of James Bond.

The Queen has been portrayed in a number of television shows, including a brief appearance by the Doctor in The Crown.
