Krystle Matthews, the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate, says she has no plans to step down from her House seat.

Project Veritas, a right-wing organization that secretly tapes progressive politicians and edits the tapes to show them in an unflattering light, has put pressure on the Berkeley Democrat to step down.

You should be aware of who you are dealing with. You have to treat them in a way that makes them happy. That is the only way they will respect you, Matthews says in the recording. I keep them under my thumb. It is where I keep them. You need to. If they don't get out of control, they will.

The attorney general jumped on her comments and demanded she resign.

They both serve in the House with Matthews.

A sitting member of the S.C. House should not encourage or joke about violating election laws just to get more votes. That was done by her. The loss of life and wasting of brilliant minds in the black community is caused by gangs in our state.

Washington D.C. does not need more toxicity. He said thatIgnorance is not bliss.

The Matthews campaign said she wouldn't be suspending her campaign.

The only member of the House Democratic Caucus who has called for Matthews to step down is Bamberg.

The Democratic nominee for governor was with him.

Cunningham said there was no place for the kind of rhetoric he heard from Matthews. The Democratic Party can't and shouldn't tolerate such behavior from our elected officials and candidates.

The House is not in session.

In an interview with The State newspaper, the House Minority leader said that he does not support the comments Matthews made.

"I don't think there's any place in politics for her type of comments, but I have not verified the authenticity of her statement, and as a criminal lawyer, I believe that everyone deserves a chance to tell their story." The people of South Carolina deserve better. She needs to respond to her comments.

She owes an apology to everyone in the Democratic Caucus. It is up to the voters who send her here, and we have seen worse from the Republican Party and nothing on their behalf to get members to apologize.

Matthews demanded the entire recording of her conversation with the reporter be released.

I love everybody. Matthews said in her statement that she has no biases towards a certain ethnic group. I expressed my disgust for Black legislators who are hypocrites.

This is the second time this year that comments from Matthews have been published.

She mentioned the use of drug money in a phone call with a South Carolina prisoner.

My black people have money. Matthews is talking on the phone. I don't care about that. I need that money. Where's the f---ing drug? The duffel bag boys are nowhere to be found. Find someone from your family who doesn't know you donated to my campaign and put that under their names.

The Democratic nominee for the United States Senate is Matthews, who is black and is an engineer.

Matthews said she didn't mean to say she would be an orthodox candidate.

She said that serving in the State House gave her a clear view of the treachery a lot of the legislators she had respect for were involved in.

State law does not allow party executive committees to replace a candidate on the ballot in this situation, according to the chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party.

Robertson said, "This is a serious distraction from other Democratic candidates running for office and most importantly a distraction from the Republicans in the General Assembly who are trying take away the freedom and the right of women from women." She needs to focus on winning reelection to the State House of Representatives because of what is happening in the General Assembly.

Robertson wouldn't comment on Matthews' campaign.
