The new iPhone is here. During its "Far Out" event on Wednesday, Apple gave us a glimpse of the long-rumored Apple Watch Ultra, as well as the second-gen Apple watch.

The new iPhones are the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone 14 Pro. The phones will be available for pre-order on September 9th and arrive on September 16th. The Apple product won't be available until October 7th.

Emergency messaging via satellite and better battery life are some of the changes that the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus brings to the table. A new 48MP main camera, an always-on display, and even a notch replacement are included in the premium iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.

You may be wondering which model is right for you since each phone has different features and prices. In order to make sense of Apple's crowded lineup, we summarized and compared the specifications of each model. If you want a closer look at the upcoming flagships, we have published our initial hands on impressions.

New features, battery life, and more

There are a few changes and features that apply to every model of the phone. The US models, for instance, no longer feature a physical sim tray but go all in on eSIMs, which shouldn't affect those on a major carrier but could prove to be a problem with some providers. No matter which phone you buy, you will be able to add features to your lock screen, even if you don't own an Apple device.

Satellite-based EmergencySOS will be supported by all of the new phones. When you don't have a cell signal, communication satellites can be used to send messages. The feature will be free for two years for people who purchase an Apple product. The ability to automatically connect you with emergency services if you have been in a car accident is one of the features offered by the Apple Watch Series 8.

That is where a lot of the similarities end. All of the phones have different battery life and sizes. If you want the larger display and longer battery life of the iPhone 14 Plus, you can get it for $100 more than the starting price of $799. The iPhone 14 maxes out at 20 hours on paper, but the iPhone 14 Plus has up to 26 hours on paper. The battery life on the iPhone 14 Plus is twice as long as the one on the iPhone 14 Pro. The $1,099 iPhone 14 Pro Max has up to 29 hours of battery life.

Similarities abound

The differences between the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus aren't all that different. Both of them use the same dual-camera system that includes a new ultra wide camera and a 12-megapixel main shooter. The new TrueDepth camera can be used to take group shots from a greater distance. We haven't tested Apple's claim that it has made Night Mode up to twice as fast. The Action Mode on each phone in the lineup should allow you to record in a similar way to a Gimbal. There is a cinematic mode that can record 4K resolution at 30 frames per second and 24 frames per second.

The iPhone 14 Pro is a more powerful camera system. While the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro is lighter and smaller than the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max, they offer the same three-camera system and 48MP main camera. The A16 chip in the Pro models is different from the A16 chip in the Plus models. The high refresh rate display that does away with the notch is always on. There is a cutout called the "Dynamic Island" that can be moved around and display various notifications in real time.

There are a lot of differences between the different models of the iPhone 14. We have gathered all the relevant specifications so you can compare them for yourself in the chart below. If you want to upgrade from one of the last year's models, we've included the last-gen iPhones 13 and 13 Mini. The last of its kind might be the iPhone 13 Mini.
