There will be stability in the middle of the offensive line for the foreseeable future according to reports.

A five-year contract extension has been agreed to by the South team.

Since the Saints selected him out of Texas A&M with a second-round pick, he has been with the team.

In his first two seasons, he played in all 16 games. The New Orleans squad that set an NFL record by using 58 different players in the starting lineup over the course of the year was concerned about the injury to McCoy.

The 25-year-old is in the middle of his prime and will be spent with the team that drafted him.

He earned a solid but unspectacular overall player grade of 63.6 last season, which was below the 76.2 he earned as a rookies and 70.1 he earned in his second year.

It's not as if he was a major liability on the offensive front because of the injury. New Orleans' trust in him is confirmed by the nature of the contract, which puts him among the top five highest paid centers on a per-year basis.
