In order to strengthen their positions in the fast-growing electric sport utility and commercial vehicle markets, the two EV companies have merged.

David Michery, CEO and chairman of Mullen automotive, said in a statement that the acquisition gives the company a chance to expand into the commercial EV space.

All-electric commercial vehicles for classes 3 through 6 are being created by a Michigan startup. The off-road electric pickup trucks were supposed to be produced by the company but were delayed.

A car is yet to be launched by Mullen, which went public last year. The first electric vehicle will be called the Mullen Five.

According to the startup, the investment will help fast-track the development of the class commercial electric trucks, as well as a class 4 vehicle expected next year.

They will continue to grow the team and develop all-electric commercial platforms using each other's resources. Robert will stay as CEO.

The class 1 and class 2 EV cargo van programs give us the chance to dominate the entire class 1-6 commercial light- and medium-duty truck segments.
