The Pentagon halted deliveries of the F-35 after discovering that a component of its engine is actually made in China.

The metal alloy is embedded into the F-35's pumps. Fighter jet's engine is one of the things that you hope work.

Russell Goemaere is a spokesman for the F-35 Joint Program Office.

Coast Probably Clear

The military doesn't think that the part is damaging the craft or US intelligence operations.

According to Goemaere, there are no performance, quality, safety or security risks associated with the issue and flight operations for the F-35 in-service fleet will continue as usual.

It makes no sense that this happened in the first place, especially since the F-35 program was a disaster. The use of the alloy in the production line of the F-35 could be seen as a violation of the Buy American Act. This is a serious oversight, no matter how you cut it, and Lockheed Martin would get a slap on the wrist for that.

"We are working with our partners and the Department of Defense to ensure contractual compliance within the supply chain," a spokesman for the company said. There is no visibility or access to any sensitive program information.

The F-35 remains safe for flight and we are working with the Department of Defense to resolve the issue as soon as possible to resume deliveries.

It seems that it's difficult for everyone involved. The Pentagon and Lockheed Martin might invest in some of those gold stickers in the future. It might be able to help.

The F-35 deliveries were put on hold after it was discovered that Chinese alloy was found in a key component.
