The death of Queen Elizabeth II was mourned by world leaders.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement that the long-reigning monarch died peacefully at her estate in the Scottish Highlands. She was over the age of 100.

The White House released a lengthy statement mourning the death of the queen, who met with Biden at Windsor Castle.

She was more than a queen. Biden said that shedefined an era. She was a constant source of comfort and pride for generations of Britons who had never known their country without her. The people of the Commonwealth admired Queen Elizabeth II for a long time. An age of unprecedented human advancement and the forward march of human dignity was witnessed by the seven decades of her history making reign.

Biden said that she was the first British monarch to whom people all around the world could feel a personal connection. She devoted her entire life to their service.

Queen Elizabeth met with 14 U.S. presidents during her 70 year reign.

He said that Queen Elizabeth II was a stateswoman who deepened the Alliance between the United Kingdom and the US. Our relationship was made special by her.

All flags of the United States should be flown at half staff until sunset on the day of the queen's internment.

Obama released a lengthy statement on her death.

"From the day of her coronation 70 years ago, the first one ever televised, to this very moment, as countless tributes are being posted online in her honor, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has fascinated the world." She was just 25 years old when she became the leader of one of the world's great democracies. She went on to make the role of Queen her own, with a reign defined by grace, elegance, and a constant work ethic, bucking the odds and expectations placed on women of her generation.

While in office, Obama met with the queen four times.

He said that the Queen meant a lot to him and his wife. She welcomed us to the world stage when we were just beginning to navigate life as President and First Lady. We were struck by her warmth, the way she put people at ease, and how she brought her considerable humor and charm to moments of great fanfare.

Donald Trump posted messages about the queen on his social media platform when he was president.

"Melania and I are very sad to hear of the death of Queen Elizabeth II," Trump wrote. We send our deepest sympathies to the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom during this sad time. There was a great legacy of peace and prosperity left by Queen Elizabeth.

She will be remembered for her steadfast devotion to her fellow countrymen and women. "Melania and I will always be grateful for the time we had with the Queen, and we will never forget her kindness, wisdom, and sense of humor." There was no one like her.

Bush, Clinton, and Carter released statements mourning the queen's death.

We were honored to have known the queen. Bush said that she was a woman of great intelligence, charm and wit. Spending time at Buckingham Palace and having tea with Her Majesty and her corgis is one of the best memories of the presidency.

He said thatQueen Elizabeth led England through dark moments with her confidence in her people and her vision for a brighter tomorrow. Our world was helped by her steady resolve, and we are thankful for her decades of service as a monarch. Americans like her friendship. Laura and I send our deepest sympathies to the Royal family and the people of Britain.

Clinton said in a statement that they join with people across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth in giving thanks for her extraordinary life. She led Britain through great changes with genuine care for the welfare of all its people. She was a source of strength and calm in storms.

During our visits to Buckingham Palace in 1995 and 2000 she did a lot to deepen the Special Relationship. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family.

The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum posted a picture of the queen and Carter together.

The flags at the US Capitol were flown at half-staff in honor of the queen.

The queen canceled a virtual meeting with members of her Privy Council at the advice of her doctors, who were concerned about her health.

As news of the queen's health deteriorated, members of the royal family, including Prince Charles, the heir to the throne, rushed to Balmoral to be with her.

The palace gates were adorned with a statement announcing her death.
