Britain's monarchy has a very interesting royal family tree.

King George V and his wife Mary had six children. Four of them had children of their own.

Well-known royals like Prince George of Cambridge and his younger siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have a lot of lesser-known cousins.

The House of Windsor is not very old. King George V was a descendant of Queen Victoria. He was a member of the House of Saxe- Coburg and Gotha. Albert, prince consort, the husband of Queen Victoria injected the German dynasty into the British monarchy.

World War I caused English attitudes toward Germany to sour.

George V made a big PR move in response to the rising anti-German sentiment. He changed the names of Gotha and Saxe- Coburg to Windsor. Windsor Castle is where George V's granddaughter Queen Elizabeth II still resides on weekends.

The British royal family tree begins with the family that began it all.
