Today is Disney+ Day and, as part of its perks, the company is offering Disney+ subscribers a new augmented reality experience in conjunction with the short film "Remembering," starring and produced by Captain Marvel and directed and written by Elijah Allan- Blitz. Users can use the augmented reality app to watch an extension of the movie on the small screen with their TV.

She plays a writer who forgets an idea when her phone rings. The inner child of the writer, played by Peak, helps her recover her lost idea, which is represented as a flying and talking cluster of light. The world of imagination is a fantasy filled with rainbows, shooting stars, and dolphin-shaped clouds.

It's important to remember your younger self and all the creativity you once had, according to the movie. It explores how adults can be reluctant to use their imaginations and how the origin of ideas can be a problem.

Disney has created a number of augmented reality experiences in the past, but this is the first one that connects directly to the Disney+ platform. It is an experiment to see if augmented reality can be used to enhance movie stories.

The purpose of the augmented reality component is to have viewers engage with the film using their phones.

The "Remembering: The AR Experience" app, designed by technology studio Magnopus and Walt Disney StudioLab, will allow Disney+ viewers to download it on their phones or tablets. The app can be found on the App Store.

While watching the film, viewers are supposed to keep the app open. The device will chime if it recognizes a key piece of audio around 3 minutes in. Ahead of the experience, there is a 10-second timer.

A waterfall flowing down to the floor as well as dolphins, butterflies, trees, foliage, glowing flowers, and other digital elements can be seen when a user points their iPad at the TV.

During the experience, the movie keeps playing. You can watch the show on the TV screen or on your phone. In the scene, a shooting star flies across the sky and dolphin-shaped clouds dive into the river.

The app did not have any issues when we tried it out for ourselves. You can't interact with the digital elements of the augmented reality experience. You have the option of restarting and replaying as much as you want.

Disney plans to make the augmented reality app available on the Android platform in the future, but it is currently only available on the Apple platform. There is no requirement for viewers to download the app to watch the film.

The idea of imagination from a child's perspective was explored by a former kindergarten teacher. He used Peak's ideas about imagination to craft the story and enhance it using augmented reality. A volumetric stage was used to film the movie. The light and movement for the personified "idea" was created with live on set projection mapping.

The filmmakers said that this allowed them to act while also seeing incredible landscapes all around them.

The first of its kind, "Remembering" is part of the future of how humans interact with entertainment. The augmented reality experience allows viewers to engage with it in a deeper way. You are going to remember it on a deeper level than just watching it. He said it was something you did.

The film is meant to encourage adults to get in touch with their younger selves and is for everyone to see.

"It's taking what makes art so wonderful and makes me feel like my job is worth anything, which is to speak the unspeakably, to show the unknowable, and to say that you cannot just view it from the outside, but you can participate in it." You are warmly welcomed. You are invited to become a member. It's just the beginning of many more conversations about how we can deepen our stories so that we can eventually be more connected.

They aren't saying there is another experience under their belt, but they are thinking about it.

Disney+ wouldn't say if it would add more augmented reality features in the future.

The streamer said that time would tell.

Rivals have only seen the technology as a means of marketing their projects, not enhancing them directly, despite the streamer's adoption of augmented reality.

There is an app called DracARys that lets users raise a virtual dragon, as well as a partnership with snap to create a fire-breathing dragon.
