The 12-day Venice & the Swiss Alps itineraries are part of Uniworld's partnership with Golden Eagle. Guests embark on the S.S. La Venezia to sail the Venetian Lagoon for seven nights on the itinerary.
The itinerary starts with an overnight stay in the largest city in Switzerland, which is known for being a global financial and banking hub. While in town, I was reminded of this. Outside of Old Town, the city center was a concrete jungle. The Old Town had a more medieval look with its old Gothic church spires, stone bridges stretching over canals and its cobblestone streets filled with pockets of alleyways.

Uniworld's cruise and rail offerings are perfect for anyone who loves an old fashioned train trip, enjoys the nostalgia of a night in a cabin rail car, or is a fan of good whodunits. I've been a fan of all three pastimes for some time, but I've only had the chance to do two, and I've never been on an overnight train journey.
It's hard to believe that a chef who is detail-oriented could create such delicious dishes on a moving train.
