There is a green dot on the right side of the notch when the camera is being used. This privacy indicator can be seen on the new Dynamic Island cutout.
When the built-in Camera app is opened, there is an image of the relocated camera indicator in the press release for the device. The green dot indicates that the camera and microphone are being used by an app on the phone.
The green dot next to the front camera on the iPhone 14 Pro models is similar to the green light next to a MacBook's webcam, providing a more consistent experience.
An orange dot will appear in the Dynamic Island when an app uses the microphone only on the phone.
The green and orange dots will appear to the right of the battery icon in the status bar if the Dynamic Island is already used by other apps.
The Dynamic Island is exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro models. Aided by software, the cutout becomes different shapes and sizes for things such as incoming phone calls, notifications, Face ID, and more.
Pre-order the four iPhone 14 models this Friday at 5:00 a.m. The devices will be available in stores on September 16th, except for the slightly delayed 14 Plus model.
