Steve Bannon turned himself in at the district attorney's office in Manhattan on Thursday morning, where he will be held pending an indictment on state charges that he stole money from a charity.
Shortly after 9 a.m., Bannon stepped out of his SUV and yelled to the press that he was being harassed.
On the same day the mayor of this city has a delegation down on the border, they are persecuting people who are trying to stop them.
A protester shouted "stop hurting America, you crazy two-bit grifter!"
The charges he now faces will have a familiar ring to him.
The US Postal Inspection Service arrested him on a $28 million superyacht off the coast of Connecticut in August 2020 on the same allegations.
He pleaded not guilty in the federal case and is expected to be back in court on Thursday.
There will be some changes. Donald Trump can't pardon Steve Bannon like he did early last year when he was one of a number of high-profile exit pardons and commutations on his final night in office.
The Lady May, the luxury yacht of the Chinese fugitive businessman, will be the location of Thursday's arrest.
Bannon was met by NYPD detectives assigned to the prosecutor's office and taken to the district attorney's office on the ninth floor of a lower Manhattan courthouse.
"They're going to cuff him after he walks into the lobby," said Richman.
He's going to be taken to the 9th floor for processing. They're going to take his mugshot.
Jeremy Saland, a former Manhattan prosecutor now in private practice, said that the paint on the walls was taxpayer funded.
"After he's booked, they'll probably keep him in the district attorney's office, where they'll take his fingerprints or something like that," he said.
He might be in a chair for his court appearance.
They couldn't handcuffs him to the chair. It is dependent on the situation. It won't be like a $28 million yacht.
