You can now listen to surround sound on your Apple TV and Fire TV. The streaming television service has added 5.1 audio support to its shows and movies after adding it to its devices in June. In March of this year, YouTube TV began testing 5.1 channel audio for the first three devices, as well as for Apple TV and Fire TV devices. The service is still in the process of bringing the capability to consoles, but this is the first time it has been covered.

Only those that have surround sound are able to view all of the content on the video sharing site. 5.1 audio will be turned on if a user is streaming on a compatible device. Those who want to make sure that it's available for a specific video can do so by playing it and selecting the "bug" icon. The "Stats for nerds" will be displayed at the top of the video, and if it has surround sound, it should show AC3/EAC3.
