The suspect in the fatal stabbing of 10 people in Canada has died after being captured by police.

After a high-speed chase, police took a man into custody on a highway in the province ofSaskatchewan.

The white SUV ran off the road and was surrounded by police cars.

Three of the patients are in a critical condition.

Rhonda Blackmore told a news conference that the province was breathing a sigh of relief.

She said police received a report of a vehicle being stolen earlier in the day. The householder was not hurt.

The police gave chase at speeds of 150 km/h. The police chief said that officers found a knife in the SUV as they arrested the man. He was taken into custody in the early hours of the next day.

She said that after his arrest, he went into "medical distress" and was taken to a hospital in SASKATOON, where he died. She said his cause of death would be determined by a post-mortem.

The official told the media that Sanderson died of self-injury.

Social media footage showed a suspect being arrested by police on the side of the road.

After an alert was sent to Canadian mobile phone users telling them to "seek immediate shelter/shelter in place" because a man armed with a knife had been seen driving a stolen vehicle in the area, news of Sanderson's capture came soon after.

According to the report, the woman's rural property was broken into at around noon on Wednesday.

A woman locked her front door and hid in the bathroom after she spotted a man walking up to her.

The woman refused to come with him, even though he told her he would not hurt her and asked her to come with him, according to her son.

The suspect took the keys to the woman's car, along with her phone, water, soda and cigarettes, according to the son. The woman used a phone to call the police.

The charges of murder, attempted murder and breaking and entering had been brought against him.

The brothers were accused of being involved in the attacks on Sunday. Police are investigating whether his brother killed him during the search.

The brothers' parents appealed for their son to turn himself in.

The mother apologized for her sons in an interview.

I want to apologize to everyone that was hurt and affected by this terrible situation.

The scene of Myles Sanderson's capture

The motive for the knife rampage has not been revealed by police. The majority of those killed were from the James Smith tribe.

Canada's parole board said on Tuesday that it would review why a man who had been sentenced to four years for several violent crimes was released early from prison.

The board said in February that his release would help the protection of society by facilitating his rehabilitation.

Since May, when he stopped meeting his assigned caseworker, the police have been searching for him.

He had a long criminal record that included 59 convictions since he was 18 for assaults, threats and robbery.

According to court papers, seven years prior to Sunday's killings, Earl and Joyce Burns had been stabbed by Sanderson. He was sentenced to two years in prison for threatening Mr Burns' life.

The public safety minister wants to know why the parole decision was made. I'm very worried about what happened here.
