Remember when the phone was introduced? It was the first phone with a display notch, something that quickly became famous. There was a small black blip on the screen that showed that Apple had lost its way. What would SteveJobs think? How did we laugh?
There are contents.
Apple wasn't happy. The notch was the beginning of something great. Apple showed us all what it had up its sleeve with the introduction of the iPhone 14 pro. The Dynamic Island would be the last laugh for Apple. I never knew I needed it, but do I need it now?
If you missed Apple's September 7 event, Dynamic Island is a complete redesign of the notch that no one saw coming. The slab that houses the Face ID sensors and front-facing camera seems to do anything you need it to, instead of being static. It has a stupid name, but that is where the stupidity ends.
Is it possible to play music? When you wipe the app away, you'll see that you're playing in the Dynamic Island. What's the incoming call? You can now see who is on the other side of the line. Want to make sure you got the correct price? There is an animation bursting out of the Dynamic Island. You understand the concept.
There is an electronic device called an Apple.
Who would take something that was functional and made it so joyful? You can't hide the Face ID sensors under the display but you can make it something you will actually love. Apple is the only one that could do this.
I would like to know if you think Google would be able to do this. Is it possible that SAMSUNG would dare? As we speak, it is likely that the interns at SAMSUNG have drafted a joke about Apple's new feature. Give the company a few months to make its own imitation.
Apple took something that was a universal symbol of mockery and turned it into a reason to avoid the iPhone. It is the most welcome Apple event I have ever seen, and it is the most unexpected.
You may think I'm overreacting. Is it just The Notch 2.0? It's wrong. The notch was dull and boring. It had something great, but its form wasn't up to par. It isn't enough for the design freaks at Apple. Everything must be good. The Dynamic Island has corrected the mistake. It was introduced by Alan Dye, Apple's chief design freak.
This is a feature you can't get with any other phone because it requires both software and hardware to work in perfect harmony. There is no other company that can pull that off.
It's more than that. It makes you feel a little giddy in the same way that Universal Control made me feel. Say what you want about Apple, but no one else will do the same thing.
Enough gushed. It's time to save for a new phone.
