Greece wants its allies to condemn Turkey for recent aggressive rhetoric from the Turkish President, who has warned of the possibility of an open conflict with Greece.

In letters dated Monday and Tuesday to NATO, the EU, and the UN, the Greek Foreign Minister called for them to rebuke Ankara. Dendias said that allowing Turkey to threaten Greece would lead to another conflict in Europe.

Dendias said that by not doing so in time orunderestimating the seriousness of the matter, we risk seeing a situation like that currently unfolding in some other part of our continent. None of us would want to see this.

The top Greek diplomat wrote a letter to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg saying that the Turkish attitude was a destabilizing factor for NATO's unity.

Turkey and Greece have a long-standing dispute over islands in the Aegean Sea, as well as other issues such as maritime boundaries.

When the time comes, Turkey will do what's necessary, despite the accusations of Greece over the weekend. Turkey could "come down suddenly one night" if it was attacked by Greece, warned Turkey's Prime Minister.

The price will be heavy if you go further, according to the president.

The Turkish leader doubled down on the threat during his visit to Sarajevo.

"What I'm talking about is not a dream," said the Turkish leader after he was questioned about his previous comments. One night we can come suddenly.
