How can Chelsea rebuild themselves after sacking Thomas Tuchel? (2:28)

Gab talks about what he thinks about the future of the club and what he thinks about the current situation. There is a time and a place for it.

Thomas Tuchel looked a little bit like Dennis Hopper's character in "True Romance" after he was kissed by Christopher Walken and took a drag of his cigarette. He knows what's going to happen and it's not good.

That is what it looks like in hindsight. He said that he was not worried about the start to the season. Reality is what it's about.

The poor start to the season led to the dismissal of Tuchel.

It was no coincidence that the club let it be known that there had been concerns for some time and that this was not a knee-jerk reaction to the defeat.

I don't know what the degree is of that explanation passing the smell test.

They didn't have reason to be worried. The home game against Spurs was the only game in which they played well. If you're worried about firing your manager, you don't normally spend a lot of money over the summer, even if it's a quarter of a billion dollars. The previous regime of managing director Marina Granovskaia, sporting director Petr Cech and scouting and recruitment guru Scott McLachlan had all either left or were leaving, so that's when you're acquiring players and signing contracts without a front office.

There's a beautiful game here. You can watch tournaments and teams.

It wasn't a joke that Todd Boehly was the interim sporting director of the club. He was the guy who flew around Europe, talking to agents and other people, and negotiating contracts.

Olley wanted to know what happened in the summer transfer window.

Boehly, who wrestled in college and still has that stocky, amateur grappler look, has a lot of experience owning a sports team. He is one of the co-owners of the Los Angeles Dodgers. This is a different sport, a different role, and one that wasn't even on his radar until just over six months ago when Vladimir Putin decided to invade Ukraine, setting off the chain of events that led to RomanAbramovich's departure.

The way most English clubs used to operate was like this: with a manager deciding which players he wanted to bring in and which ones he wanted to let go.

Since the days of Sir Alex Ferguson, nobody has succeeded in working this way. Specializing in scouting and recruitment requires a lot of attention and expertise. Negotiating and knowing how to price players are also part of the process. When one of the guys doing it has a day job, and the other has no experience in the field, it becomes even more difficult.

You could argue that she had no choice. It was necessity that turned Boehly into a wheeler-dealer this summer. They wanted to bring in experts to replace them because they couldn't hold on to them. They were linked with Michael Edwards all summer long, but they didn't succeed. Tuchel was asked to do double duty with Boehly's assistance.

The social media reaction to the firing of Thomas Tuchel.

Even though it isn't a good idea, I get the logic. In addition to overpaying for players, it took a toll on Tuchel. You don't need to be a body language expert to notice how his gaunt, praying mantis-like frame looked over the last few weeks. When you spend more than any other club in Europe and then get rid of him in the first week of September, it is a really bad idea.

Steve Nicol is of the opinion that Graham Potter should be the new coach of the club.

What's the reason? You have no idea if his successor on the bench or whoever you hire eventually as a long, because you have just invested £253m in players Tuchel wanted. Even though there is no endless supply of cash, whoever comes in will be working with more limited resources than he would have otherwise, which will make the rebuild harder.

Sources tell us that Tuchel is being looked at as a replacement.

It's hard to understand why you wouldn't assess the situation when the World Cup rolls around in November. After six games of 38, the Blues are six points out of fourth place. They are not out of the qualification race despite the poor showing in Zagreb.

Three of their seven summer signings have yet to play a single minute. The man has played a game. When you signed them, you thought Tuchel would be able to do it. How do you change your mind so fast?

They need to reload on the fly. Whoever takes over will have to work with a group of people who have been together for a long time. With almost no time on the training pitch, they will have to work with what he has to make it better. Because of the compressed winter World Cup calendar, the team will be playing every single weekend and week, even though most of them will be away.

Unless there's something we don't know -- say, something happened in the 14 or so hours between Tuchel standing in front of the cameras in Zagreb and Chelsea's statement Wednesday morning -- that's all we know. That kind of thing can haunt you.
