One of the most significant upgrades in years is the new iPhone 14 Pro. We're used to seeing better camera and screen technology in Apple's "Pro" lineup, but this time around it's a different story. The notch that was part of the design of the iPhone X has been removed by Apple. The "Dynamic Island" is a cutout that can expand to include notifications and other app information. A part of the screen looks very dynamic.

Apple's new Super Retina XDR display can reach up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness outside, making it the largest display in the world. The Pro's 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens stay on all the time so you don't have to use your phone to see important information. How could that happen? The new low power mode allows the screens to drop down to a super low refresh rate.

There is a new mobile chip called the A16 Bionic. There are two high performance cores and four high efficiency in it, with a 5-core graphics card. The A15's use 20 percent more power than the high- performance cores, but Apple says they're also faster. The A16 will be a big draw for the Pro lineup as the standard iPhone 14 is stuck with the A15 chip.

The new 48MP main camera on the iPhone 14 Pro is a huge leap from the standard 12MP cameras Apple has relied on for a long time. It has a quad-pixel sensor that makes it easy to oversample large photos into 12MP-sized pictures. You can also shoot a 48MP photo in ProRAW.

The standard model of the iPhone 14 Pro has the same Photonic Engine as the Pro model. There's a new telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom and a refreshed 12MP ultra wide shooter. The flash has been updated to allow for double the brightness.

Compared to last year's model, the iPhone 14 Pro looks a lot better. For many photographers, the larger camera sensor has been a long time coming. The price of the Pro Max will be the same as last year. You can pre-order the models on September 9th and they will be available in stores on September 16th.
