The new Xbox Elite 2 Core controller will be less expensive than the existing one. The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 is available for pre-order today for $129.99, but it doesn't include the usual interchangeable components.

The Xbox Elite 2 Core, as we are calling it, has the usual features such as thumbsticks, wraparound grip, and shorter hairtrigger locks, but it is now white. It is the same controller we saw in leaked video footage last month, and it is designed to be a more affordable controller.

The new Core does not have a carrying case. If you want the rear paddles, variety of thumbsticks, and carrying case, you need to purchase a complete component pack. The pack contains a few things.

  • Carrying case
  • Charging dock
  • Classic thumbsticks (2)
  • Tall thumbstick (1)
  • Dome thumbstick (1)
  • Cross-shaped D-pad (1)
  • Set of four paddles: medium (2), mini (2)
  • USB-C cable

The existing black controller is still available for $179.99 and comes with a one-year warranty. The warranty period was extended by Microsoft after both the original and Elite 2 controllers had issues. Microsoft extended its warranty retroactively after some owners of the Elite 2 complained of stuck buttons.

"We heard players loud and clear and have continued to improve Elite Series 2 controllers to be more reliable than ever before with refined components that are built to last." Microsoft has a one year limited warranty on Elite Series 2 controllers.

Preorders for the new $129.99 white Xbox Elite 2 Core controller start today at Microsoft's online store, and it will be shipped on September 21st.
