According to multiple reports, there was a lot of praise for the first performance by the actress who took over the role from Beanie Feldstein.
One witness told E! that audience members were "buzzing" over the performance. The audience was losing their minds at a lot of whatLea did.
According to People, at least six people stood up during the performance, including four in the first act.
Variety reported that Ryan Murphy and Jonathan Groff were among the celebrities in the audience.
The wild conspiracy theory that the actress can't read is said to have caused the audience to laugh and gasp.
Harvey Fierstein, the author of the musical, was overheard telling a friend, "I haven't had a night like this in the theater in years."
Johnny Olekinski of the New York Post reported that Tovah Feldshuh is the funniest girl in the show and that she replaced Jane Lynch.
The person is ready to leave. Olekinski wrote in the Post that she has been performing in the shower for 10 years. The production was not as appealing as it was back in the spring.
The Post and Deadline are reporting that critics will be invited to review the show in a few weeks.
$2,500 is the total amount of money. According to multiple news reports from right after the news broke she was stepping into the show, the most expensive tickets to her first performance were selling for more than $1 million.
After Feldstein left the show, some small changes were made to the production to make it look better. The song "I'd Rather Be Blue Over You" was added to the stage show in order to make up for the fact that it wasn't previously part of the show.
It is the first time that the show has been revived on Broadway since 1964, when it was Streisand's best known show. The Tony Awards snubbed Funny Girl, who was nominated for supporting actor, due to the negative reviews she received for her performance in the production. She was supposed to stay with the production for a year after it opened in April, but it was announced in June and July that she would leave on July 31st. Since at least 2014, when she publicly expressed her desire to play Brice, she has been in talks to reprise the show with Murphy, but the actress has recently generated controversy due to allegations she mistreated her ex-cast mates. The accusations of making her work on the show "a living hell" and other actors made similar accusations, as well as the loss of sponsorship deals, caused Michele to stay out of the public eye for years. She appeared in a documentary on Spring Awakening, which she starred in on Broadway from 2006 to 2008. In an interview with the New York Times this month, she said she understood the importance and value of being a leader after being accused of causing harm to her castmates.
Here's why it's controversial.
Before she took the stage at her first performance of "Funny Girl", she received four standing ovations.
There are six standing ovations later, and the actress returns to Broadway in a musical.
The New York Post wrote a review of the Broadway show.
The pressure is on.
