Kim and a former Carlyle partner are starting a private-equity firm that will invest in and develop consumer and media companies, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Skyy Partners will make its first investment by the end of 2022, according to the publication. Jay Sammons was the head of consumer investing at Carlyle and was known for his investments in brands such as Supreme and Beats By Dre. Sammons worked at Carlyle for more than a decade.

According to a report, she runs an undergarment company called Skims which was recently valued at over $3 billion. Her work in Skims helped her reach the list of world billionaires.

She told the WSJ that it was exciting to sit down with the founders and figure out what they wanted to do. I don't want to change who they are in their genes, but to support them and get them to a different level.

The fund's expected size was not provided by the duo but they plan to start raising money soon. There are companies that focus on consumer products, luxury, digital commerce, and media.

Sammons told the WSJ that Kris will join Skyy as a partner. The businesswomen were approached by Sammons earlier this year about starting the company.
