The last of its significant Covid-era restrictions will be lifted by Malaysia.
The Health Minister said that masks will be compulsory for people who test positive for Covid. Visitors may still be required to wear masks. He said that the public is encouraged to wear masks.
As Malaysia transitions to the endemic phase of the outbreak, the easing is in line with it. The number of covid cases in the country has fallen from a high of over 30,000 in March to a little over 2,000 as of September 6.
In order to live with Covid, Malaysia ended limits on gatherings and testing for incoming travelers. On May 1, masks were no longer required for wearing in open spaces.
