The Los Angeles Police Department was filmed detaining two people at a community event.

A patrol car spotted Robert and his childhood friend helping set up chairs for an event and approached them.

According to the mother of the childhood friend, the officers recognized him and began to detain him. The man took out his phone to record.

Rocio Gonzalez said she was in shock when she saw the video.

My son was hit on the ground. What are the reasons? She wanted to know why he was recording you.

The officers and their sergeants were spoken to by Gonzalez. She said she was told that her son's phone might have been a gun. The Los Angeles Police Department didn't reply to Insider's request for comment.

She asked if you could have shot her son dead and then covered it up.

He is being held for something. The man can be heard saying to the police. William Gude, a Los Angeles cop-watcher, said that a community member snapped a video of the incident.

In the attendee's video, Officer Victor Quezeda can be seen rushing to the scene after recording his friend's arrest and tackling him to the ground. The 19-year-old was taken into custody.

I'm being held for something. While two men are being arrested, another officer points a green taser at the crowd.

The bail was set at 25 grand. Police officers can be filmed as they question and arrest suspects.

Gude said that Cortez was filming the officers in good faith.

He thinks Robert did the right thing.

Recent acts of police brutality have led to calls for reform at the Los Angeles Police Department.

Seven people were killed by police in 2020. According to reports from the department seen by Insider, the Los Angeles Police Department shot at least 38 people and killed 18 of them in the year 2020.

A 14-year-old girl was shot and killed by the Los Angeles Police Department while they were trying to arrest a suspect.
