Chris Holtmann, the men's basketball head coach, wants to increase the number of times his son is on campus.

The younger James has a "standing offer" from Ohio State that the coaching staff confirmed in August. James was in the area on an unofficial visit.

The combo guard is a 4-star prospect and the 45th ranked player in the class of 2020.

There is a group of four-star players in Ohio State's class of 2023. If James joined the class, he would fit the bill for a ball-handling playmaker in the backcourt.

Holtmann is starting to build a strong foundation for the future as the program looks to return to the form it showed when it went to the national title game, two Final Fours, three Elite Eights.

The team that is often overshadowed by the powerhouse football program into the national spotlight would be propelled by the landing of James.

James ends up in Columbus, Ohio because he goes to high school in California.

His famous father said he would have gone to Ohio State if he'd attended college. He has been to a number of football games over the years and is always on social media to shout out the Ohio State football team.

As the younger James makes his college decision, there is no shortage of connections between him and both his parents, who were both born in Ohio.

There is a scholarship waiting for him.
