According to WinFuture's retail sources, there is a chance that the next Chromecast device could be launched by the end of the year. Apparently, the device has begun appearing in the hands of a few retailers, and the rumored price is 40, almost half the price of the current model in Europe.
When the device appeared at the FCC, there was a bit of a rumor surrounding it. The documents stated that the product would be a wireless device. According to the FCC documents, the product would be able to stream content at 60 and1080p resolutions. The current model of the Chromecast displays content at 4K resolution, but if we consider the rumors prior to the FCC documents, this new model only displays content in the highest resolution possible.
The FCC documents detail the device's support for wi-fi, 2.4 GHz, and a controller. The current model does not have the ability to use a video codec that is compatible with the new streaming dongle, according to rumors.
