A 14-yard touchdown pass byMitch Griffis gave Wake Forest a big lead. The beginning of the story
Hartman was cleared to play by the school.
Hartman was out last month with a non- football injury. Hartman was diagnosed with Paget-Schroetter syndrome, a blood clot associated with strenuous activity.
Hartman had surgery on August 9 to have a clot removed, and a follow-up test on Friday confirmed that he had no more bleeding.
Hartman appreciated the people at Wake Forest University and the football program for how they cared for him. Right now, I am just excited to get back on the field with my teammates, and there will be time for me to tell my complete story.

There is a chance that Hartman could play in the game.
The CEO of Wake Forest Baptist did Hartman's surgery and she is an expert in Paget-Schroetter syndrome. She said Hartman's follow-up scans showed the clot was gone and the blood flow was good.
Hartman had been using blood thinners after the surgery, but they were stopped after Friday's test.
Hartman was the leader of Wake Forest last season, accounting for 50 touchdown and more than 5,000 total yards. He missed Wake's opener against VMI and was replaced byMitch Griffis, who was 21 of 29 for 288 yards and three touchdown.
Wake head coach Dave Clawson had been cautious about a definitive timetable for Hartman's return beyond promising the injury was not the end of the quarterback's career
"Hartman is one of the best leaders I have ever had the pleasure of coaching," said Clawson. Since the announcement last month, everyone inside and out of the program has supported Sam.
