After a wild weekend of college football, the AP Top 25 is out.

In the first week of the season, USC returned three picks for a touchdown, Michigan and Ole Miss kept their quarterback competition open, and then-unranked Florida upset a top 10 Utah team.

What do you think will happen from here? We break down the next steps for each team.

1. Alabama Crimson Tide (1-0)

Previous ranking: 1

The first week of the season, Utah State was defeated 55 0.

At Texas on Saturday at noon.

It's nothing to be sneezed at that the season started with a 55 0 win. There is not a lot of rushing. When you're at the University of Alabama, you're competing for a national title and your coach is named Nick Saban. There were only two carries for the 281 yards rushing and one of them was a scramble by the quarterback. The push the line was able to make was not very impressive. The consistency was not what it needed to be, according to the coach. That was against Utah State The game at Texas is worth keeping an eye on because of the position's struggles last season.

2. Georgia Bulldogs (1-0)

Previous ranking: 3

The 49-3 win against Oregon was the first week of the season.

The next game is against Samford on Saturday. The time has not yet been determined.

Georgia's rebuilt defense looked good in the opener, but there's still a lot of work to be done. Georgia didn't have a sack but it applied pressure. Freshman safety Malaki Starks is on the field and the secondary looks great. According to Kirby Smart, Starks was the most productive defensive back in preseason camp, and he had one of the best picks in his debut. All-American Nakobe Dean is no longer with Georgia because of some missed tackles. He was a defensive player in the draft. The next two weeks will be used to prepare for the SEC opener at South Carolina on September 17th.

3. Ohio State Buckeyes (1-0)

Previous ranking: 2

The first week of the season saw a 21-10 win by Notre Dame.

The next game is against Arkansas State.

The defense made a statement against Notre Dame and that was the biggest question going into the season. In the second half against Notre Dame, Ohio State allowed only 72 total yards and zero points, showing the changes they have been working on in the off-season. After facing Arkansas State and Toledo, the Buckeyes face Wisconsin at home. The teams on Ohio State's schedule will be in for a tough time.

4. Michigan Wolverines (1-0)

Previous ranking: 8

The week 1 result was a win.

The next game is against Hawai'i on Saturday. The time has not yet been determined.

J.J. McCarthy will get the start in the next game against Hawai'i as he battles for the starting job. McCarthy ran for 50 yards and a touchdown in the second half of the Colorado State game. McNamara didn't have his best start in the opener and McCarthy has the chance to take over if he can perform in the second game. Jim Harbaugh has said the competition will go on despite McCarthy's ability to make plays with his legs.

5. Clemson Tigers (1-0)

Previous ranking: 4

The first week of the season, Georgia Tech was defeated by a score of 41-10).

The next game is against Furman on Saturday. The time has not yet been determined.

DJ Uiagalelei wasn't as good as he could have been in the first week of the season, but he was still a big part of the victory. Uiagalelei needed more time to improve. Uiagalelei mostly relied on yards after the catch and the lack of separation between the receiver was a problem. Given the track record of the offense, it's fair to wonder if there's a better unit hiding underneath. Can we see more of the blue-chip Klubnik in bigger situations if there's no quarterback controversy?

6. Texas A&M Aggies (1-0)

Previous ranking: 6

The week 1 result was a 31-0 win.

The next game is against Appalachian State. The time has not yet been determined.

The team that scored 61 points against North Carolina lost. The defense will be tested, but the A&M's are confident in their talent. Senior Ainias Smith's return has been huge for the offense. He had six catches for 164 yards and two touchdown and will be a go-to for an offense.

7. Oklahoma Sooners (1-0)

Previous ranking: 9

The first week of the year saw a 45-13 win by UTEP.

The next game is against Kent State. The time has not yet been determined.

In Oklahoma's 45-13 win over UTEP, the newcomers looked good for the Sooners. Gabriel blew his way in for a rushing touchdown, completing 15 of 23 passes for 233 yards and two scores. Their next two games, at Nebraska and home against Kansas State, will show how serious they are.

8. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (0-1)

Previous ranking: 5

The first week of the year saw a loss to Ohio State.

The next game is against Marshall on Saturday. The time has not yet been determined.

There was a loss against Ohio State, but it was not a bad one. The defense held Ohio State to seven points in the first half and kept it close for most of the game. There are some things that the Irish need to work on, especially on the offense. If the team can work out some of the issues in this first game, Notre Dame could be a team to keep an eye on down the stretch.

Blake Shapen had two passing touchdowns and a rushing score in a 69-10 win over Albany in Week 1, but he will have a taller task when Baylor faces BYU on the road. Ron Jenkins/Getty Images

9. Baylor Bears (1-0)

Previous ranking: 10

Week one result: 69-10 win.

On Saturday, 10:15 p.m., we'll be at BYU. The time has not yet been determined.

The Bears opened the season with an easy win over Albany, setting up a nice rhythm for quarterback Blake Shapen and the rest of the team. It could be one of the best games of the week.

10. USC Trojans (1-0)

Previous ranking: 14

The week 1 result was a 66-14 win over Rice.

On Saturday, 7:30 p.m., we'll be at Cardinal. The time has not yet been determined.

The goodwill from the opener will be tested by the USC game. Even though the Cardinal seem to be going through a down phase, this one should be no different than the other early games for the USC. USC has had trouble with the Palo Alto game, even though it's not going to Death Valley. Even if it doesn't involve over 60 points and four picks, a win will go a long way towards proving that USC is different and setting the tone for the rest of the season.

11. Oklahoma State Cowboys (1-0)

Previous ranking: 12

The week 1 result was a 58-44 win.

The next game is against Arizona State. The time has not yet been determined.

In the first game of the season, Spencer Sanders threw for 406 yards and four touchdown, rushed for two more scores and completed as many passes as he did all of last season. The defense was gashed in a 58-44 victory. Is the defense a problem or is it more of an attention span problem? We will learn a lot when the Arizona State team comes to Oklahoma State.

12. Florida Gators (1-0)

Previous ranking: unranked

The week one result was a 29-26 win over Utah.

The next game is against Kentucky. The time has not yet been determined.

The Gators entered the Top 25 after their 29-26 upset of Utah thanks in large part to Anthony Richardson's amazing play. After the way last season ended, nobody knew what to expect from him. "I think we're figuring out here that this guy's a pretty special player," said the coach after Richardson scored three rushing touchdown. With Kentucky coming in Week 2, there is little time for Florida to clean up.

13. Utah Utes (0-1)

Previous ranking: 7

The first week of the year saw a 29-26 loss to Florida.

The next game is against Southern Utah. The time has not yet been determined.

After losing to Florida, the Utes had to stay at the airport because of their plane's mechanical issues. There were a lot of positives to take away from the game, but there were missed opportunities. The Utes are a tough team that can match up against any opponent. The offensive line and tight ends were in charge. The mistakes that cost them in the red zone need to be cleaned up.

14. Michigan State Spartans (1-0)

Previous ranking: 15

Western Michigan was defeated 35-13 in the first week of the season.

The next game is against Akron on Saturday. The time has not yet been determined.

The sophomore running back ran for 120 yards on 12 carries. Mel Tucker's team is looking to replace the production lost with the departure of Kenneth Walker III. The Spartans' progress in the running game will make things easier for junior quarterback Payton Thorne.

15. Miami Hurricanes (1-0)

Previous ranking: 16

The week 1 result was a 70-13 win.

The next game is against Southern Mississippi.

The Hurricanes defeated Bethune-Cookman 70-13 in the first warm-up. There's not much the Canes can take from the opener that would say much about their chances against the Aggies. Southern Miss will be a better test, and Miami's history of lackadaisical play surrounding big games might be the biggest mark of a genuine step forward.

16. Arkansas Razorbacks (1-0)

Previous ranking: 19

The first week of the season ended with a 31-24 win for Cincinnati.

The next game is against South Carolina.

The Razorbacks' transfer class came up big against Cincinnati, adding some oomph to a roster that already proved to be a tough out last season. The Razorbacks got on the board in the first quarter when McGlothern returned a pass 51 yards for a touchdown. The Georgia Tech transfer had a strip sack in the fourth quarter. With 9:26 left, Jefferson threw a 32-yard touchdown to Knox for a 31 17 lead. Jadon Haselwood caught a touchdown for Oklahoma, and two other players had sacks and also caught a touchdown.

17. Pittsburgh Panthers (1-0)

Previous ranking: 17

The 38-31 win against West Virginia was the first week's result.

The next game is against Tennessee on Saturday. The time has not yet been determined.

There is a lot to clean up after the win against West Virginia. The run defense was called out by the coach. The run offense is one of the others. The Pitt offensive line struggled to open holes and the running game only averaged 1.9 yards per carry as a result.

18. NC State Wolfpack (1-0)

Previous ranking: 13

The first week of the year saw a 21-20 win for East Carolina.

The next game is against Charleston Southern. The time has not yet been determined.

There is plenty of room for improvement for a team that went into the season with as much hype as they did. They struggled up front on both the offensive defensive lines and had some major issues gaining yards. The school's quarterback, who is considered a contender for the Heisman, struggled at times, going 17-of-33 for 211 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

19. Wisconsin Badgers (1-0)

Previous ranking: 18

The first week of the year saw a 38-0 win by Illinois State.

The next game is against Washington State. The time has not yet been determined.

When Wisconsin plays Ohio State in the fourth game of the season, having Mertz gain confidence in his decision making will help. The key to making it back to the Big Ten title game is for Mertz to be consistent.

20. Kentucky Wildcats (1-0)

Previous ranking: 20

The week 1 result was a 37-13 win.

At Florida on Saturday at 7 p.m. what's next? The time has not yet been determined.

After tying Bear Bryant for the most career wins in Kentucky school history in the first game of the season, Mark Stoops has a chance to break the record against Florida. Doing it on the road against Florida would cement the job Stoops has done in elevating the program into the SEC's upper tier.

21. BYU Cougars (1-0)

Previous ranking: 25

The week 1 result was a 50-21 win.

The next game is against Baylor on Saturday. The time has not yet been determined.

The hard part will come soon. The next six games include Notre Dame and Arkansas. It's one of the most difficult stretches in college football and an opportunity for the team to establish itself as one of the best. As their time as an independent winds down, two wins from those four would be a good start.

22. Ole Miss Rebels (1-0)

Previous ranking: 21

The week 1 result was a win.

The next game is against Central Arkansas. The time has not yet been determined.

Lane Kiffin is not ready to make a decision on a starting quarterback just yet. He said that the competition has been between two people. Altmyer will get his chance in Week 2 against Central Arkansas after Dart started Saturday's win over Troy. In Week 3, the Rebels will be a big favorite against Georgia Tech, and in Week 4 they will be a big favorite against the Golden Hurricane. The Rebels have some time to figure out which quarterback gives them the best chance to win the conference. The teams of Kiffin have always run the ball well, and it looks like that will continue with this team.

23. Wake Forest Demon Deacons (1-0)

Previous ranking: 22

The first week of the year saw a 44-10 win by the Vikings.

What's next at Vandy?

There is no timetable for when Sam Hartman might be able to return to action after he was injured last month. In his debut in the first week of the season,Mitch Griffis completed 21 of 29 passes for 288 yards and three touchdown. Wake's defense held Virginia Military Institute to just 3.8 yards per pass in Brad Lambert's debut as head coach, so it might need to rely more on it. Wake can't depend on Hartman at QB, as Vandy hung 63 on Hawaii in Week 0, and as good as Griffis looked.

24. Tennessee Volunteers (1-0)

Previous ranking: unranked

The week 1 result was a 59-10 win.

At Pittsburgh on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. what's next? The time has not yet been determined.

In Josh Heupel's first season as Tennessee's head coach, the Volunteers had chances to pad their win total, but couldn't. The Vols will play Pitt on the road. Heupel is looking for his second win as Tennessee's coach over a nationally ranked team after going 1-4 a year ago, and the biggest difference this season is that Hendon Hooker is the unquestioned leader of the Vols' team. He came off the bench in the second quarter and started the rest of the season for the Volunteers. With three of their next four games coming against SEC opponents, a win over Pitt would be a big step for the Vols.

25. Houston Cougars (1-0)

Previous ranking: 24

The week one result was a 37-35 win over UTSA.

What's next at Texas Tech? The time has not yet been determined.

Houston scored on six straight possessions to overcome a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit and prevail in triple OT at UTSA. The schedule doesn't get any easier for the team, but they have a week to catch their breath before facing Texas Tech. This is a tough way to start for a veteran-laden Houston team. Will they be able to score a second win in a row?

Cincinnati was dropped out.
