Recent leaks about the upcoming products unveiled at its I/O event have mostly focused on the Pixel 7 series and the Pixel Watch, but new evidence may provide an important clue about the upcoming tablets.

According to developer Kuba Wojciechowski, the Pixel Tablet will be powered by the first generation of the Tensor chip found on the Pixel 6 series. This was spotted through code in the AOSP, which also hints at a few other things.

GPS and cellular data support are some of the key features found on some of the best tablets in the world. This suggests that the slab of glass is intended to be used in households rather than as a portable device that can be taken outside.

The device designed by the hardware team seems to have fully embraced the idea, according to the man.

According to the latest rumors, the device will not function as a smart display like the Google Nest Hub, but instead will have a separate display that can be used for other things. The tablets won't include proximity and barometer sensors, as well as high-fidelity sensor processing.

The rumors should be taken with a grain of salt because it's too early to tell what the new device will offer. If the rumor is true, the limits of what tablets can do are going to be pushed.
