The CFO of Bed Bath & Beyond died on Friday.

Laura Crossen is the interim CFO according to a regulatory filing. As the company's principal accounting officer, she will continue.

The company's former CFO fell to his death. The death was ruled a suicide.

Early Tuesday, shares of Bed Bath & Beyond were down by 15% as investors weighed the struggling retailer's path forward. Mark Tritton was ousted by the company's board. The jobs of chief operating officer and chief stores officer are going to be eliminated.

The home goods retailer has lost market share to competitors due to slow sales. Bed Bath & Beyond announced last week that it had secured more than $500 million in new funding and laid out a plan to manage costs, including store closings.
