Uiagalelei keeps it himself for a Clemson TD (0:37)

DJ Uiagalelei called his own number and ran for a touchdown. There is a time and a place for this.

1:50 AM ET

After the 41-10 win over Georgia Tech, the coach said there wasn't a quarterback controversy for the team.

DJ Uiagalelei, who ran for another score and fumbled once, remains the clear-cut starter according to Brandon Streeter.

Streeter said that DJ has earned the right to be the guy. He did some things that he did not do last year. It's getting better.

Uiagalelei got off to a slow start against Georgia Tech, which included a bungled snap on a third-and-1 and several dropped passes.

Evidence of Uiagalelei's improvement came from the fact that the Tigers rebounded for an emphatic win and a smooth second half.

He did not make a bad play. He took care of the ball on the field. The ball was placed on the money. I thought he was able to fight through it.

Uiagalelei criticized his performance as a runner, noting that he narrowly missed the end zone and threw the ball away.

With the goal of being more mobile in the pocket, Uiagalelei slimmed down by more than 25 pounds this off-season, and was utilized as a runner 11 times on Monday by the team.

Uiagalelei said he had a few good runs, but sometimes he got tripped up and felt like he could have gotten a lot more yards.

Uiagalelei felt that it was a good performance.

I'm just happy. He said he had a good time. When we really needed it, we moved the ball and scored points.

It was hard to ignore Klubnik's impressive final drive, which looked as sharp as any of the offense's in recent years.

After completing passes of 20 and 18 yards on the drive, he hit Will Taylor for a 3-yard touchdown to put the game out of reach. Uiagalelei was impressed by what he saw.

He looked great and you could tell he was playing with a lot of confidence. I don't expect anything different from him. It's exciting to see that he had a good drive. He's a good player and will be a baller.

In the first few games of the past two years, top freshmen Deshaun Watson andTrevor Lawrence were able to oust veteran players from the starting lineup.

This year's depth chart is similar to when Uiagalelei arrived in 2020 with Lawrence as the starter.

Last week, Swinney saidDJ was the starter. "We're going to get as many opportunities as we can to play, but it's going to be the same as when DJ came in here." He wants to graduate in December, and it's important to get him prepared.

Streeter said that, behind the scenes, the decision to change quarterbacks has been made.

DJ has been a leader on his team. He earned the right to be the starter. You can't coach the way he practices, the way he carries himself, and the way he finds a way.
