According to declassified intelligence obtained by the Times, Russia is buying millions of rockets and shells from North Korea.

The Times reported that the U.S. could force Moscow to buy more weapons from North Korea as the war goes on.

The exact nature of the weapons deal, including its size, was not available from the report.

The purchases highlight Moscow's desperation as international sanctions hamper its ability to wage war, according to government officials.

The Russian military is still suffering from severe supply shortages due to export controls and sanctions.

Russia's ongoing supply struggles and the lengths it must go to resolve them, even as its economy largely weathers sanctions, are highlighted by the fact that it sold Moscow drones for use in the war.

Mason Clark, who leads the Russia team at the Institute for the Study of War, told the Times that the Kremlin should be worried about buying anything from North Korea.
