The military contractor who pleaded guilty to orchestrating the "Fat Leonard" corruption scandal is on the run after cutting off his ankle bracelet.

The tracker was removed by Leonard Glenn Francis, according to the San Diego Union- Tribune.

The San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service began a high-profile search after Francis' home was empty.

U-Haul moving trucks were seen coming and going from Francis' home.

In 2015, Francis pleaded guilty to offering half a million dollars in bribes to Navy officers. The officers gave him classified information in exchange for redirecting military vessels to ports that were lucrative for his company.

Francis and his company have been accused of overcharging the U.S. military.

Francis has been under the supervision of a federal agency that watches defendants who are out of custody until sentencing. At the end of the month, he was going to be sentenced.

Francis' defense attorney wouldn't speak to the Union-Tribune on Monday.
