The Boston Celtics have an opening for an experienced scorer off the bench after veteran forward Danilo Gallinari was injured. The team has a goal in mind.
According to the Boston Globe, the Celtics are interested in Anthony because he is the best shooting forward left on the market, and he has shown to be productive.
He spent the next two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. Anthony came off the bench and averaged 13.3 points and 4.2 rebound in 26 minutes while shooting 44.1 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from 3-point range. In 11 of the 69 games he played, he had at least 20 points.
Anthony has been in the NBA for nearly two decades but has yet to win an NBA title. His career is winding down, so joining the Celtics could give him the best chance of winning a title.
The Celtics lost to the Warriors in six games in the NBA finals. The core of the Celtics was retained with the exception of Marcus Smart. Malcolm Brogdon was acquired in a trade with the Pacers.
The Celtics were hoping for Gallinari to provide some depth and veteran leadership off the bench, but his season was derailed after re-injuries. If Boston is able to reach a deal with Anthony, he should fit in nicely with the team.
